The coolest girl in town!

Who knows the english band The Kills also knows Alison Mosshart and her stunning sombre voice beside Jamie Hince.
In my opinion Alison belongs to the coolest girls in music scene and is a fashion icon too with her rock - and careless-chic and her black out-of-bed hair which I´m trying to imitate- mostly unsuccessfully.
But just let the pictures speak...

Back to the roots

Although my music taste is actually more tending to the underground part of town I sometimes prefer the friendly cornfields outside and so I listen to Folk such as Mumford&Sons.
Recently I downloaded their new album Babel, which is as good as Sigh no more, and still sounds after campfires with marshmallows and guitar music in the nature of North America. No wonder that the London based band has a great fan community in the USA.

Another artist who does a similiar kind of music that also reminds us of our roots and who I really adore is Robert Francis. His debute album Before Nightfall is a masterpiece of music. All songs came to his mind while driving down the West Coast of North America from Seattle to L.A.. The melodies and lyrics came up his mind while driving in the silence surrounded by great nature. This September he released his new album Strangers in the first place. Its songs again prove that Robert Francis always plays and sings with the power from the bottom of his heart and you hear it in every verse that he really packs his own emotions in the lyrics and melodies.

My musical discovery of the year!

Thanks to my visit at Austria´s best alternative festival - FM4 Frequency Festival- I discovered this awesome british indie-rock band: The Cribs As soon as my music taste was starting to turn more in the underground and grunge direction I made the acquaintance of this group from Wakefield, England. I immediately got hooked on their mixture of indie- garage- punkrock and lo-fi. Their songs Scenesters and Come on, be a No-One are played up and down on my ipod and they are perfect to pass the time during a boring and long car ride. They shortly released their new album In the belly of the brazen bull whose songs are striking all my expectations and which will be my soundtrack of this autumn! But just get your own picture of their sound:

Come as you are!

Already before I started this blog I decided that my first post will be about one of the greatest bands and one of the greatest musicians in history: Nirvana and Kurt Cobain! Founding Fathers of a new music and lifestyle-Grunge- and idols of a whole revolutionary generation in the 90s until now! No wonder that Cobain´s death at the age of 27 through suicide has shocked the whole world and the grunge community that hard! Even when Dave Grohl wanted to start a new band- The Foo Fighters- Nirvana fans were demonstrating. Now we know that the growing fame and popularity of the band and the consumption of heroin has finally led to his sad death by a gunshot. However, his music will stay alive forever and will motivate young musicians to carry on with doing their own thing and giving nothing about what others say. Moreover I am actually totally addicted with the grunge style! Every outfit becomes better with a touch of Kurt or Courtney! ;)
